It’s no secret that tea has many benefits. Drinking tea is associated with improved health, including a lower risk of heart disease and stroke, better bone density, and a stronger immune system. For those that find waking up in the morning to be challenging, tea is also associated with increased cognitive function and can be the needed boost for you.
But beyond the physical benefits, tea also offers mental and emotional benefits. Drinking tea has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. In addition to its health benefits, tea is also a delicious and calming beverage. Whether you enjoy it hot or iced, sweetened or unsweetened, tea is a refreshing and satisfying drink.
There is a type of tea for every mood, time of day, or season.
In the afternoon, after a light lunch, it is customary to have tea in England and is a legacy left by the British around the countries of the erstwhile Empire. This is a tradition that has been around for centuries, and it is one that is still enjoyed today. Afternoon tea usually consists of finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. It is a light meal that is meant to be enjoyed with friends or family and is a relaxed affair, and a great time to catch up with friends or family. It is also a time to relax and unwind from a busy day. The modern reincarnation of this traditional afternoon custom that has morphed into “high tea” is altogether another story.
Low or no caffeine tea, like mint tea, is the best way to wind down for a good night’s rest.
After nightfall, it’s best to avoid teas that contain high amounts of caffeine as drinking tea late in the day can cause you to find it difficult to fall asleep. White tea and green tea are very low on caffeine, and so are some of the herbal blend teas that do not have the Camellia Sinensis plant leaves. Some of the teas to drink in the evening are chamomile, peppermint, lavender, and Valerian root tea. These teas are low in caffeine, or caffeine-free altogether, and also have a calming and soothing effect that can help you relax and fall asleep.
